Hiiiiii. Hello to you all!
Happy Food Revolution Day 2013! #FRD2013 I apologize in advanced for the amount of exclamation marks already made and ones that will be made. Life is exciting and those marks are rather necessary. So #FRD2013 is something that Jamie Oliver started to help inspire people in the world to get out and cook. The motto is, Cook It. Share It. Live It. How awesome is that?! Right, I know. It is so strange to think how much the food “culture” in the world, at least America for that matter, has changed so much from just a few years ago. A few years ago meaning like 100 plus. We personally don’t know what it was really like back then, I mean unless you have some sort of space age time machine…, but we do have facts and evidence to back it all up that we are in fact horrible, horrible eaters these days. A large bunch of people lack the essential cooking skills to even make the ever so popular chocolate chip cookie. Oiy Vey, my ears!
I find it hard to fathom that a large amount of people could care less about what they are eating, where it comes from, what it does for one’s body or the Earth actually. What Jamie is doing is simply brilliant! Over 25 countries! Connecting people from New York to South Africa to Austraila to the central spot of it all, London, for one day, to stress the fact that good food and cooking skills are somewhat of a necessity. It might be happening in Central Park or in your grandma’s sweet little kitchen over looking the vineyards in Italy. Either way something is happening, small steps causing a big movement turning into a powerful movement.
For this day I decided to whip up something quick. Literally it took me about 25 mins start to finish. Dishes even done as well. This recipe is new to most of you but me as well. The ingredients are beyond basic. Everyone should have ALL of these on hand. Maybe I am biased but ehhh whatever. I call these (Free) because there is NO gluten, NO sugar & NO dairy. You are probably thinking that these surely can not be cookies. Well read on, make them and then please, just enjoy!
1 c oats
1/4 c unsweetened coconut
1/4 c raisins
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mash the banana. Add in the rest of the ingriedients. Mix well until all combined. Using a cookie scoop, scoop them onto a greased cookie sheet. Flatten the balls out. Place in oven for approximately 8 mins or until the edges are a bit golden.
Everyone cook today! Learn something new. Try that recipe you have been afraid to conquer. Make your Mom’s famous dinner dish. Show your kids/neighbors/friends that you can whip up a mean brownie.
